I can’t believe January is already almost over, can you? I swear time flies the second you add kids into the mix. I feel like it was just Christmas!
Anyway, I’d like to start a monthly post regarding some of my favorite things that I’ve either just discovered or used religiously during the month. I always like seeing other blogs “Favorite Things” posts…they are so helpful and inspiring.
So without further adieu, here are some of the things I’ve been loving this January…

While I’ve actually had this french press for several years now, I haven’t used it in forever. Since starting the Whole30, I’ve resurrected this bad boy to add a little excitement to my morning coffee. Since I’m drinking my coffee black right now (no creamer, boo! And I’m not a fan of the coconut milk. Seriously, I don’t get all the hype over the stuff…it’s just not my thing. ) The French Press makes the coffee taste much smoother, and brings out the natural flavors and oils in the coffee grounds. Win!
Here’s the thing about me and phones: the last phone I got was a 2 year old iPhone (2 years ago), and folks, that was my first ever smart phone. So needless to say, my expectations aren’t very high. But I have been loving the new Samsung Galaxy 6s. My favorite part is how clear the pictures turn out! My husband always had Samsung Galaxy phones, and he talked me into upgrading to the newest version. Now our phones are all matchy-matchy, and we’re even on the same plan now, which makes us officially a real married couple.
OMGoodness….this has been a LIFESAVER, I tell you! Why did it take me three children to finally invest in a large enough baby gate to enclose my living room??? Live and learn. The cool thing about this play yard is, like I mentioned above, it’s large enough to block off an entire room. It also has the ability to hook into a circle, to create a small play yard. It’s a little small as a circular enclosure, in my opinion, but I could see how it could be beneficial in certain situations. The knobs on top of the gate sections also tighten, which makes the gate very sturdy and virtually impossible for Baby-Cakes to move. There’s also a gate latch on front, which my older two boys can easily open and close. I find I just end up stepping over the whole gate, as I usually have at least one or two children in my arms, but it’s handy to have a gate regardless. The only negative thing I read in reviews is that some babies actually end up figuring out how to open the gate, which some were able to remedy with one of the baby proof door knobs. If he’s anything like my middle boy, he’ll have it figured out within the week. Hopefully we won’t have to go there, but only time will tell.
Another absolutely wonderful invention. This DVD has baby boy absolutely enraptured! . I don’t know what it is about this movie, but all of my boys have loved it. The praise music is really nice and calming, the pictures are entertaining for babies, and with it being praise music I feel slightly less guilty about sticking him in from of the TV from time to time.I know there’s lots of differing opinions on babies and young children watching TV, and I’m not about to go there. I subscribe to the “everything in moderation” motto. And lets be honest folks, sometimes a TV show or two is a mom’s only saving grace throughout the day. Can I get an amen?
This has been an absolute lifesaver when I find myself with a sweet tooth during the Whole30. Though it’s not sweet at all, I’ve found the extra fat satisfies the same craving. Delicious!
My 11 month old loves these! He loves taking them apart, and it is absolutely adorable to try to watch him put them back together.
Another Whole30 must-have! This is a staple at my house on a regular day, but especially when I’m doing the Whole30. Can’t live without this stuff.
That about sums it up for January! I have many other things I love right now, but we’ll leave it at that for now.
